{"id":7270,"date":"2019-02-08T08:28:38","date_gmt":"2019-02-08T08:28:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/daily-mash-publisher-bought-for-1-2m\/"},"modified":"2019-02-08T08:28:38","modified_gmt":"2019-02-08T08:28:38","slug":"daily-mash-publisher-bought-for-1-2m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/daily-mash-publisher-bought-for-1-2m\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily Mash publisher bought for \u00a31.2m"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div property=\"articleBody\">\n<figure class=\"media-landscape no-caption full-width lead\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><\/p>\n<p>                <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" alt=\"Daily Mash screen grab\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/320\/cpsprodpb\/167D4\/production\/_105561129_untitled-1.jpg\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\"\/><span class=\"off-screen\">Image copyright<\/span><br \/>\n                 <span class=\"story-image-copyright\">Daily Mash<\/span><\/p>\n<p>            <\/span><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">The firm that owns satirical news website the Daily Mash is changing hands for \u00a31.2m.<\/p>\n<p>Mashed Productions, which also produces a TV spin-off on BBC Two called the Mash Report, has been bought by media firm Digitalbox. <\/p>\n<p>The new owner describes itself as a company with a pedigree in emerging publishing technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Daily Mash co-founder and editor-in-chief Neil Rafferty said the deal would give it access to greater expertise.<\/p>\n<p>The purchase is expected to complete on 5 March, subject to approval by shareholders.<\/p>\n<p>Digitalbox already owns the Entertainment Daily website, which offers celebrity news and show business gossip.<\/p>\n<p>Digitalbox chief executive James Carter said the acquisition of the Daily Mash, which was founded in 2007, was likely to be followed by other asset purchases as the firm pursued a &#8220;buy-and-build&#8221; strategy.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;With 10 years of consistent audience growth under its belt and the Mash Report successfully airing on BBC Two, it is a brand with huge potential.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very much looking forward to working with the team to help them grow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Mash&#8217;s Mr Rafferty said: &#8220;This is a great opportunity for the Mash to build on what we have created so far.
