{"id":6860,"date":"2019-01-29T10:39:37","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T10:39:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/rail-user-satisfaction-at-10-year-low\/"},"modified":"2019-01-29T10:39:37","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T10:39:37","slug":"rail-user-satisfaction-at-10-year-low","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/rail-user-satisfaction-at-10-year-low\/","title":{"rendered":"Rail user satisfaction at 10-year low"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div property=\"articleBody\">\n<figure class=\"media-landscape no-caption full-width lead\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><\/p>\n<p>                <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" alt=\"People waiting for trains on a platform\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/320\/cpsprodpb\/3B0D\/production\/_97071151_hi040071296.jpg\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\"\/><span class=\"off-screen\">Image copyright<\/span><br \/>\n                 <span class=\"story-image-copyright\">PA<\/span><\/p>\n<p>            <\/span><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Passenger satisfaction with rail services has fallen to a 10-year low, according to the independent transport watchdog, Transport Focus.<\/p>\n<p>A survey of 25,000 people found 79% were satisfied overall with services, the lowest since 2008, with more than one in five passengers not satisfied.<\/p>\n<p>Worsening punctuality, last summer&#8217;s timetable chaos and strikes are among the reasons for the fall. <\/p>\n<p>Northern Rail and Great Northern saw the biggest drops in satisfaction. <\/p>\n<p>Comparing autumn 2018 with autumn 2017, two of the 25 train operating companies (TOCs), Heathrow Express and Chiltern Railways, &#8220;significantly improved&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But over the same period seven operators &#8220;significantly declined&#8221;: Great Northern, Northern, TransPennine Express, Greater Anglia, Thameslink, ScotRail and London North Eastern Railway.       <\/p>\n<p>Other findings included: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"story-body__unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"story-body__list-item\">71% were satisfied with levels of punctuality and reliability <\/li>\n<li class=\"story-body__list-item\">46% were satisfied with value for money <\/li>\n<li class=\"story-body__list-item\">The value for money measure fell to 31% for commuter journeys<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anthony Smith, chief executive of Transport Focus, said: &#8220;Government and the industry must continue to focus on performance. In the longer term, the government&#8217;s Rail Review must bring about fundamental change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Passenger irritation at poor performance erodes their most basic trust in the industry.
