Several called on co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger &#8211; who quit earlier this year &#8211; to return.<\/p>\n<p>Some wondered if it was a way to stop people just scrolling endlessly through updates by making them tap and examine posts before moving on.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram user Elise Michelle called it: &#8220;By far the worst update in Instagram history.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Soon after the backlash, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mosseri\/status\/1078322669307609088\" class=\"story-body__link-external\">Mr Mosseri tweeted<\/a> that the change had been &#8220;rolled back&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;If you&#8217;re still seeing it you can simply restart your app and you should be good to go.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"http:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-46693741\">Source<\/a> by <a href=\"\">[author_name]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image caption Instagram regulars did not react positively to the horizontal scrolling test Instagram has apologised after a test feature was accidentally rolled out to millions of people using its app. The change meant moving through a feed had to be done by swiping horizontally rather than vertically.
