The move means he may be released as early as Friday. <\/p>\n<p>Mr Ghosn, a towering figure in the auto industry, has previously denied the accusations made against him. <\/p>\n<p>His defence team has said they are invalid because they do not relate to his salary, but to future payments that he was expected to receive after retirement.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"story-body__unordered-list\">\n<li class=\"story-body__list-item\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-46263220\" class=\"story-body__link\">Carlos Ghosn: The driven &#8216;cost killer&#8217;<\/a><\/li>\n<li class=\"story-body__list-item\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-46321097\" class=\"story-body__link\">Five charts on the Carlos Ghosn scandal<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Japanese prosecutors have also charged Nissan in relation to the case, which has continued to send shockwaves through the global car industry. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-46503064\" class=\"story-body__link\">If Mr Ghosn is convicted, the charges could mean up to 10 years in prison<\/a>.
