Bad Bunny and J Balvin<\/td>\n<td>I Like It<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr\/><\/table>\n<\/div>\n<p>Drake was the most searched-for artist of the year but failed to make the top 10 &#8211; presumably because his searches were split across the 21 tracks on his Scorpion album.<\/p>\n<p>J Balvin was the app&#8217;s second most-popular artist; and scored two entries in the top 10 (although none as a solo artist).<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"story-body__crosshead\">Apple acquisition<\/h2>\n<p>Shazam&#8217;s technology works by analysing the unique sonic fingerprint of a song &#8211; which it uses to match the music in its database to the audio you send via your phone.<\/p>\n<p>The company was bought by Apple Music last year for a reported $400m (\u00a3316m).
