We remain on schedule and are confident that this activity is already starting to yield benefits.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the first stage in returning the group to sustainable long term profitability.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Carpetright agreed a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) with its creditors in April. Under that plan to also raised an \u00a365m from shareholders.<\/p>\n<p>Carpetright&#8217;s troubles come as many others on the High Street struggle to stay in business. <\/p>\n<p>This year has seen a raft of big names shut stores or disappear entirely. <\/p>\n<p>They include electronics firm Maplin, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Toys R Us, Mothercare and even Poundworld.<\/p>\n<p>A number of big-name restaurant chains have also struggled, including Jamie&#8217;s Italian and Prezzo. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-46519866\">Source<\/a> by <a href=\"\">[author_name]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Image copyright Reuters Struggling floor covering retailer Carpetright said half-year losses widened sharply to \u00a311.7m from \u00a30.6m last time.
