{"id":4333,"date":"2018-11-13T23:35:45","date_gmt":"2018-11-13T23:35:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/flybe-up-for-sale-weeks-after-profit-warning\/"},"modified":"2018-11-13T23:35:45","modified_gmt":"2018-11-13T23:35:45","slug":"flybe-up-for-sale-weeks-after-profit-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/flybe-up-for-sale-weeks-after-profit-warning\/","title":{"rendered":"Flybe &#8216;up for sale&#8217; weeks after profit warning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div property=\"articleBody\">\n<figure class=\"media-landscape no-caption full-width lead\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><\/p>\n<p>                <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" alt=\"Flybe aeroplane\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/320\/cpsprodpb\/16B36\/production\/_104328929_flybe1.jpg\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\"\/><span class=\"off-screen\">Image copyright<\/span><br \/>\n                 <span class=\"story-image-copyright\">SOPA Images<\/span><\/p>\n<p>            <\/span><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Flybe is reported to have put itself up for sale less than a month after issuing a dramatic profit warning. <\/p>\n<p>The regional airline is expected to say on Wednesday that its board is exploring a sale or a merger with a rival, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/brexit-and-fuel-costs-force-airline-flybe-to-put-itself-up-for-sale-11553619\" class=\"story-body__link-external\">according to Sky News.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-45887289\" class=\"story-body__link\">the airline warned<\/a> full-year losses would reach \u00a322m due to a combination of falling consumer demand, a weaker pound and higher fuel costs.<\/p>\n<p>The airline&#8217;s shares have fallen by almost 75% since September.<\/p>\n<p>The Exeter-based airline is now valued at around \u00a325m, far below the \u00a3215m it was valued at when it floated on the stock exchange in 2010.<\/p>\n<p><!-- THREE MONTH CHART --><\/p>\n<p>Stobart Group &#8211; which pulled out of a bid to buy Flybe earlier this year after the airline rejected its offer &#8211; could be a possible purchaser, according to Sky.<\/p>\n<p>Flybe, whose roots date back to 1979, has 78 planes operating from smaller airports such as London City, Southampton and Norwich to destinations in the UK and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>It serves around eight million passengers a year, but has been struggling to recover from a costly IT overhaul and has been trying to reduce costs.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Flybe&#8217;s chief executive Christine Ourmieres-Widener said it was reviewing &#8220;further capacity and cost-saving measures&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Stronger cost discipline is starting to have a positive impact across the business, but we aim to do more in the coming months, particularly against the headwinds of currency and fuel costs,&#8221; she said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The airline is due to issue its interim results on Wednesday.
