{"id":2548,"date":"2018-09-25T12:55:47","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T12:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/manchester-united-revenues-hit-record-of-590m\/"},"modified":"2018-09-25T12:55:47","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T12:55:47","slug":"manchester-united-revenues-hit-record-of-590m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.styledeals.co.uk\/blog\/manchester-united-revenues-hit-record-of-590m\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester United revenues hit record of \u00a3590m"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div property=\"articleBody\">\n<figure class=\"media-landscape no-caption full-width lead\"><span class=\"image-and-copyright-container\"><\/p>\n<p>                <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"js-image-replace\" alt=\"Manchester United's Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/320\/cpsprodpb\/4458\/production\/_103569471_qyqxpym1.jpg\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\"\/><span class=\"off-screen\">Image copyright<\/span><br \/>\n                 <span class=\"story-image-copyright\">Reuters<\/span><\/p>\n<p>            <\/span><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Revenues made by Manchester United have hit a record as the football club earned more money from TV rights.<\/p>\n<p>The club reported revenues of \u00a3590m in the year to the end of June, up 1.5% on the prior year, and forecast they would top \u00a3600m next time<\/p>\n<p>TV revenue rose 5.2% to \u00a3204m after the club finished second in Premier League last season, against sixth before.<\/p>\n<p>But there was a big revenue fall in the final quarter due to United&#8217;s poor showing in a key European competition.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue for the three months to 30 June fell 16% to \u00a3147.6m, as United failed to make it through to the quarter-finals of the lucrative UEFA Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>With the New York-listed club back in the competition this year, United is predicting that revenues will be between \u00a3615m to \u00a3630m in the current financial year.<\/p>\n<p>Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said: &#8220;Our increased revenue expectation for the year demonstrates our continued strong long-term financial performance which underpins everything we do and allows us to compete for top talent in an increasingly competitive transfer market.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"story-body__crosshead\">&#8216;History demands&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>The club is currently seventh in the Premier League, eight points behind early leaders Liverpool and six behind cross-town rivals and reigning champions Manchester City.<\/p>\n<p>There have been media reports of behind-the-scenes discord between Mr Woodward and manager Jose Mourinho over the club&#8217;s player recruitment policy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Woodward said: &#8220;Everyone at the club is working tirelessly to add to Manchester United&#8217;s 66 and Jose&#8217;s 25 trophies.
